I am currently a Ph.D. student and Paul F. Lazarsfeld Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University. I also serve as a research fellow at The Trust Collaboratory, The Center on Organizational Innovation, and a Precision Medicine & Society Fellow at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
My research interests lie at the intersection of medicine, science and technology studies, and political economy, with a broad focus on the social processes of medicalization and pharmaceuticalization. I am also interested in the embodiment and valuation within medicalization processes. I have been researching a wide range of diseases, illnesses, and disorders, including tics (Tourette’s syndrome, TikTok Tics), ADHD, rare diseases, and Long COVID.
I am launching an initiative called “China Reading & innovation Lab” (CRiL) at Columbia. We welcome new friends to join and participate in future events.
Prior to joining Columbia, I received my M.A. in Chinese Studies from the University of Michigan, where I also earned a Graduate Certificate in Science, Technology, and Society. I completed my LL.B. in Sociology at Fudan University, where I was honored as a Wangdao Scholar.
Embracing life as both a New Yorker and a new Shanghainese, I take pride in my roots in Michigan and Fujian.
